He wasborn in New York City on April 10, 1927, and move to Orlando, Florida when he was 12.Marshall found his love for biology through bird watching in Florida. He would also learninformation from museum curators and biochemists who where in nearby World War 2 trainingcamps. Since Marshall found his love for biology at a young age, it would lead to a bright future.Second, Nirenberg was very successful because of where he earned his education.Marshall graduated from the University of Florida in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Hestayed there to complete his Masters degree in Zoology. In 1957 Nirenberg went to theUniversity of Michigan to finish his Ph.D. After Marshall Nirenberg finished his Ph.D. he wentto the National Institute of Health for a two year postdoctoral at the American Cancer Society.Since Marshall Warren Nirenberg earned his masters from the University of Florida and hisPh.D. at the University of Michigan, he would soon earn a Nobel Prize in Physiology orMedicine.Lastly Marshall was very successful because of the partners he had to help him.Nirenberg’s partners were Har Gobind Khorana and Robert Holley. Har Khorana is known forworking on breaking the genetic code. Robert Holley is known for being the first to sequence atRNA and determine its structure. Together they won the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicinein 1968. Robert Holley, H Gobind Khorana, and Marshall Nirenberg deciphered the genetic codeby matching amino acids to synthetic triplet nucleotides. They proved that the genetic code wasuniversal to all life on earth. Since Marshall Nirenberg had such great partners, they ended upwinning being Nobel Prize winners.Marshall became very successful because of his childhood, where he earned hiseducation, and the partners he had to help him.
